Profile
Smell
Think pine resin meets bitter cocoa nibs meets coffee meets tangerine.
Taste
Gorgeous bread character with hints of molasses, slightly herbal, with bitter pine resin, citrus-tangerine comes back with some lemon and pink grapefruit. Roasted caramel, and dark sugar complexity. Long length. Lingers well on the palate. Slightly hoppy finish that is balanced by a baked biscuit mouthfeel.
Pairing
Roast chicken with mole sauce.
Sight
Clear deep amber coloured core with a soft tanned head. Produces quite a bit head on the initial pour.

Description
Stone Brewing was founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner in 1996 in San Marcos, California. Misson: to be able to create amazing, flavourful beers for people who were sick of the usual big brand names on the market. Industrialized beers? No thanks. Over the course of the next 25 years, and with strong local support from all the other craft brewers around them, Steve and Greg grew Stone Brewing in to what it is today: a benchmark brewery that would kickstart the craft beer revolution in the United States. The “Bastard” was born before they opened. It was originally a mistake by Steve while formulating a recipe and resulted in a very unique, kind of aggressive style of ale, but something they loved. They weren’t sure if the public would like it, but still decided to launch it and see if it would take. The rest is history.
