Profile

Smell

A combination of juicy, muddle tropical fruit, sharp green leafy hops and some floral elements. There’s a touch of malt underneath it all, but it stays subtle.

Taste

The fruit is laid back but provides a nice, sweet backbone for the rest of the beer to roll on. The hops open up as they warm on the palate, and the green leafy elements are joined by more floral and herbal components. The body is fairly smooth but trends dry at the finish. The malt is all but obscured until the end, where it’s left behind to provide a slightly warm, sweet finish.

Pairing

Pair this up with any version of Surf N’ Turf for a tasty evening.

Sight

Pour a pale gold colour with a hazy body and low carbonation. A thin layer of big bubbles rests on top of the pour.

Description

The germ of Flying Boats Brewing was first given life in the mind of owner Marc Melanson in the mid-1990s, but it would take years of brewing home kits in the garage before he felt ready to bring for the big show. Focusing on Maritime inspired beers, Flying Boats became the real deal in the summer of 2015. It only took six months for the brewery to massively expand their brewing operation. They moved from hand bottled to a full can system and busted open a proper taproom a few years later. Now their work is making its way across the country in trucks, boats, and by flying - whatever gets their handiwork to the masses as soon as possible. The Galaxy Far Far Away is a New England-style IPA with a hop-forward profile that delivers a juicy punch with a leafy kick in the back. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
