Profile

Smell

A slightly sweet, malty aroma combines with a vinous, almost sour aroma. There’s a touch of floral hops in the background.

Taste

Laid back flavour that tastes of sweet malt with a lightly toasted grain backbone and a touch of floral hops with an earthy complement. The taste comes on quickly, but disappears just as fast. The body is light and tasty, with a smooth mouthfeel that drifts toward a dry finish. Overall this is a solid ale with easy going flavour that fades off without a trace.

Pairing

Match this beer up with slow-roasted pork and apricot for a killer combo.

Sight

Pours a light straw colour with a clear body and low carbonation. A thin layer of sticky, bubbly foam rests on the pour.

Description

Hub Town Brewing Co. is the handiwork of Mark and Lisa Watts. Beginning their careers as oil and gas folk, they’ve added craft brewing to a long list of skills and activities. But the twist is that Lisa originally didn’t even like beer. After an adventure through the states and many microbreweries, the fantastic array of beers available was shown to her and a passion was ignited. For the past 8 years, Hub Town Brewing Co. has enjoyed the couple’s every available hour (outside of working full time jobs and juggling family) and grown into a serious contender in the busy Alberta craft scene. More than a dozen beers are available from Hubtown with a mix of year-round and seasonal offerings. The Fort Knox is a Belgian-style golden ale with a touch of fruity flavour and a crisp body that packs a kick. It’s a solid beer for quaffing around the campfire or enjoying a steak. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for up to six months.
