Profile

Smell

The laid back aroma makes it tricky to pull specifics, but you’ll find a touch of citrus and sweet fruit, grain malt, and some flowery hops if you sniff hard.

Taste

Taste is just as mysterious and laid back as the aroma. The malt is slightly sweet and has a touch of toasted grain. The citrus is noticeable but doesn’t leap out, and the hops are barely perceptible. It helps to let it warm up a touch to strengthen those qualities, but this is a subtle beer that’s certainly easy to drink.

Pairing

Pairs well with a properly made Beef Dip or anything steak-like from the grill.

Sight

Pours a light yellow colour with a clear body and light carbonation. A frothy head of bubbles pours from the can but will quickly reduce to a thin layer on top of the glass.

Description

Started in 2016, Little Brown Jug aims to make beer the best way possible. In the beginning that meant brewing only one beer and brewing it many times. Building a home in Winnipeg's Exchange District, brewing one beer became a full-time pursuit. But once the beer was made to their satisfaction, and the immense satisfaction of the locals, they took the same precision and gusto into the next beers. Now the taproom has six core beers on tap all the livelong day, along with a few rotators depending on the time of year. At their core, Little Brown Jug is about precision and will use the techniques of old with the technology of the future to make it all come together into a great pint. Queer Beer is a lager with a hop profile that leans into fruity, sweet citrus, melon, and berry. Aiming to be clean, crisp, and refreshing, it serves well at 8°C and can cellar for up to three months.
