Description

Township 24 is a focused brewery on the town of Chestermere in Alberta. Tucked away in the rolling foothills and estuaries just east of the city of Calgary.  The owner/operator grew up in the area on a farm and wanted to grow a business that was related to agriculture and the farming industry. Mike and Matt, felt it was the perfect cross-over to open a brewery in the area.  Like most rural breweries they have become a local fixture in the community and one that the locals are also very proud of.  For the owners its all about working with locally sourced ingredients out of their backyard, ingredients that are highly prized by many international craft brewers such as the malt barley that is grown in the rich soils of Alberta.  The name of the brewery has deep meaning: in 1910 the Alberta Surveyors Act laid out the groundwork for the province’s township system by following the lines of latitude and longitude.  This grid was used to define agricultural plots and the land that surrounds Township 24 happens to produce some of the highest quality malt barley in the world.  Township 24 brewery uses that grain for its beers. It’s a win win.
