Smell
Bready and lemony all at once, kind of like a freshly baked lemon meringue pie. Hints of field hay, and creamed corn.
Taste
It’s a really good rendition on a Mexican Lager style, very crisp. Lemon and biscuits, with hints of straw and malty notes. Hints of hay from the hops and the end finishes with a little sweet corn.
Pairing
Fish tacos, margarita pizza or buffalo wings.
Sight
Very pale yellow, almost with hints of light green. Clear.

Description
A proud beer landmark for Alberta, Troubled Monk poured their first beer on June 12th 2015. Located in the heart of what is considered malt barley country here in Alberta, Troubled Monk strives to use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. The brewery was inspired by the story of a young monk brewer who had an obsession with the fermentation craft and in particular, creating exquisite beers, which was seen as a source of trouble to his peers. Originally starting out in the owner’s garage, Charlie Bredo, the owner, alongside his brother (his partner) saw a lot of potential in his home brews. Brewing beer for over 12 years, the brothers grew their experience with different recipes and methods. This grew the brothers to apply for the nano-brewery license to operate legally out of Charlie’s garage. The popularity of their work grew and they realized a large space to brew more was needed. Not long after, they established a full-scale microbrewery on their own. While they produce a large range of styles, their favourite beers to produce are Ales. Charlie, Graeme, along with their head brewer, Garret Haynes, are committed to producing quality craft beverages while promoting local farmers and producers.
